I’ve stumbled across a
hidden treasure. Psalm 46 is a goldmine of promise & providence and the
more I read it the more I discover something new.
“God is our refuge & strength (mighty &
impenetrable to temptation), a very present & well proved help in
trouble. Therefore we will not fear!” V1-2
He is present. He is our
strength. He is our High Tower….He is
our Refuge.
I found this verse by
accident (literally) last week when I received a call from a local service station
to say that they had found my daughters missing handbag. They had found my number in her phone &
called me.
Rachael had thought it had
been stolen and I loved her positive reaction even then. “Well if they find my phone I hope they read
the verse”. I had a look at the
verse myself and instantly loved its declaration of hope & complete trust in who
He is. “God is within her. She will not fall” V5
No, she will not.
There is another
translation in the Amplified.
“God is in
the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God will help her right early [at the dawn of the morning].” Another translation said ‘’at the dawn of a brighter day”
This verse is also a
promise to the church that it shall not be moved. I actually looked up a commentary as I was
curious about its meaning. In this
chapter there is a river which alludes to the ‘’graces of the Holy Spirit, which flow through every part of the church”..’’
and I loved this … “gladdening the heart
of every believer. It is promised that
the church shall not be moved. If God be in our hearts,
by His word dwelling richly in us, we shall be established, we shall be helped;
let us trust and not be afraid.”
Girls I can’t emphasise enough how
important it is to allow the richness of His word to become an integral part of our
lives – throughout both the mountains & the valleys. Through meditating on this chapter alone I
have discovered promises, truths & keys that I am determined to hold onto
as I continue to run this race.
He doesn't promise there will be no fearful circumstances, storms or valleys, but He does promise to be the One to lead us out when we keep our eyes fixed on Him.
“Let be and be still, and know (recognise & understand) that
I am God.” V10
He is within you. You will not fall.
Love this!
